Several days ago, I was reading in Psalm 46. It begins like this:
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore
we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains
slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the
mountains quake at its swelling pride.” (v1-3)
I read the news regularly and try to keep up with world events. Since
MentorLink is global, this is part of what I must do to generate prayer for
our partners. The world seems to be coming apart at the seams. This propels
one toward the fear of the future. The verses above reflect this reality
even in David’s day.
Today the nations seem to be able to do what they want and get away with
it. But God remains in control.
“The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice,
the earth melted.” (v6)
Then the King of the universe tells me and all His servants:
“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the
nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (v10)
We can rest assured that He has it all under control.
