A guest post from my good friend Steve in Spain.
Most of us like things in our life to remain calm and predictable. When the
unexpected shatters the calm and forces its way into our lives, it can be
challenging. Even as we pray for one another in the MentorLink family, we
are often called upon to stand with those who have suffered loss of
property, or loss of good heath, or even the loss of loved ones. Sometimes
it can feel like we’re in a whirlwind of trials that threaten to sweep away
even our peace of mind and our trust in God. Where is God in the midst of
the storms of life?
Nahum 1:3 speaks of the Lord’s power: His way is in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet. In the immediate context of the
passage, this power is displayed in His judgement against His enemies. Yet,
at the same time, it reminds us that He is not only sovereign over all the
storms of life, He is in the midst of them. As you walk through your own
whirlwinds, or as you pray for others who are doing so, rejoice that our
great God is present and is working in it all. “He rides on the wings of
the wind” (Psalm 104:3).
