Until His Appearing

Paul writes to Timothy, “…until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will display at the proper time – he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor an eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:14b – 16)

Wow! Such passion; such solid meat in so few words. But, look at the context. Leaders are charged to faithfulness (vs 13), the rich are charged to be generous (vs 17-19) and leaders are charged again to be faithful (vs 20-21).

If any of us is leading a Bible study or Sunday school class, serving as elders or deacons, leading any kind of ministry even as a volunteer, we need to pay attention to this.

He is soon to return. In the meantime, are we being faithful, or generous?
